ColegauCymru would like to wish Cerys Davies well for the next stage of her education and career progression in the world of education, sport and Health and Wellbeing after her internship with us comes to an end.

Cerys,

“I was lucky enough to be a sports Young Ambassador (YA) throughout my time in secondary school, this was mainly due to my passion for sports. I then went to Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Sports and PE where I was able to continue my YA journey by joining the Higher Educational Young Ambassador society alongside my studies.

Being a YA has allowed me to gain and develop many skills such as punctuality, leadership and teamwork. I have also made many friends and contacts within the sporting industry which has been valuable during my internship.

Working with CollegesWales on the Santander internship has been an excellent opportunity for me to put my skills to use and gain some more experience. Not only has the internship allowed me to expand my network in the college industry, it has also allowed me to make new friends and meet new people.

Through the internship, I have gained new skills that I will be able to use for life. For example, communication and organisational skills. I have been responsible for the Twitter and Instagram accounts which has enabled me to upgrade my social media skills. I also believe that my technology skills have improved as I’ve been mainly communicating and working via a computer.

I have been able to expand my learning and have been involved in developing new exciting projects during my experience with Colleges Wales. I have been able to develop a yearly planner, undertake detailed minutes for meetings, present various information and helped to create a communication guide for college lecturers as well as other tasks.

Despite the global pandemic and the restrictions that were imposed, I still feel I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience and gained valuable knowledge, friendships and skills. I would recommend this internship and would personally like to thank Rob and the rest of the Colleges Wales team for this experience.”

Rob Baynham, ColegauCymru Sports Coordinator

“Cerys has proven to be a team player collaborating closely with our Development colleagues. We are grateful for her valuable contribution to the Active Wellbeing Programme, particularly during this uncertain and challenging period.”

Iestyn Davies, ColegauCymru Chief Executive

“Cerys has been an asset to the work of CollegesWales Sport. We are delighted to congratulate her on gaining First Class Honours in her Sports and Physical Education Degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University. We wish her the very best in her future endeavours.”

Aled Davies, Development Officer at Youth Sport Trust

“From my perspective your internship role has been and is very beneficial, especially in helping connect myself, Youth Sport Trust and the Young Ambassadors programme to colleges in Wales. You have helped raise awareness of the opportunities we provide that the colleges and young people can engage with, in turn helping them better align to the ColegauCymru Active Wellbeing strategy.”
